Inner and outer Lapidarium, Collection "Archaeology", "Bulgaria- XV-XIX century", "New History", "Ethnography" and a House Museum "K. Velichkov".
The museum specialists undertake thorough research on the popular customs, occupation and spiritual culture of the various social, ethnical and religious strata of population in the town of Pazarjik and the region. Special attention is pad to the research on the past of the Pazarjik region during the Revival period and the wars for National freedom, the new and newest history, the life of activities of eminent persons from Pazarjik.
Objects of particular interest from the Prehistorical, Ancient and Middle Ages and rich collections: "Garments", "Fabrics", "Old-printed books", "Weapons and weaponry", "Communal-political life after the Liberation", "Commemorative and Distinctive signs", personal belongings of eminent Pazarjik citizens, documentaries and scientific collections are all preserved in the collection of the museum. |

Established in 1911 with the decision of the Managing Committee of Community Center 'Vedelina". The first museum exhibition was opened in 1924. In 1952, the community museum becomes regional. Since 1959 the organizational and administrative structure of the Regional Historical Museum - Pazarjik has been established. Its activities as a managing methodical center have extremely contributed for the development of the museum network in the region.
By a regulation of the Council of Ministers No.155 from 23.07.2000, the museum was transformed into Regional museum of history with an area of activity the regions of Pazardzjik and Plovdiv.
In 1978 the three main sections of the museum were differentiated. A restoration studio, specialized library and photo laboratory were set-up. Planning and rescue excavations of objects strongly connected with the development of the archaeological science were taken up: Settlement mound "The braves", the fortress "Alkov stone", the sanctuary of the three nymphs and a mound necropolis at the village of Ognyanovo, mound necropolis at the village of Ravnogor, the fortress Tsepina, the Middle age settlement and necropolis at the village of Kovachevo, and many others.
The museum has widely spread popularization activities, by issuing publications in the local newspapers and the electronic media. The museum is a host of national and regional Forums, exhibitions and other culture events. |
